The formula has been adapted from this page (Unofficial Discworld MUD Wiki).
Your (raw) stats are needed to calculate the total cost because your bonus in the skill has an effect on the result.
Choose which skill you are learning. It's relevant since skills use different stats for calculating bonus.
Here we need your current level, which level you want to reach, the effective teaching bonus (ETB) of the teacher, and if the teacher is specialised. These are all used in the xp cost formula.
